No, I'm not sure either. I can see the point of badges for large numbers of best answers in a topic such as Crosswords, Law or Business as it marks you out as a perceived expert in that field, but I don't see the point of the others. Certainly in my case 2 badges seems a poor return for 35000+ answers, but I'm not interested in them and would happily give mine up

I have the debating badge too. I sort of think it's the equivalent of those sports days where everyone gets a prize so as not to feel bad that they didn't win anything.

Besides, being a master debater could be the Ed's subtle way of sending what he really thinks of us ;o)
