Now i am not dreaming. My partner bought a one tune wireless doorbell yesterday that plugs in at the mains. We got it installed ok, and then....first it started playing other tunes, definitely without being pressed. She lives in an isolated area, only a few houses nearby. But then....it scared the life out of us. It barked at us when we went in the kitchen to make a cup of tea!! I went down this morning and as sooon as I went in the kitchen, it barked again! I think its not a real dog, but it is electronic barking! We've been all through the instructions and we're at a loss! She has a wireless alarm system, but can't see how this is happening when we go in the kitchen, because surely if it was a PIR being set off it would happen every time it was broken. Apart from anything else can you imagine explaining all this to a shop assistant if she returns it to B&Q!!!!

lol i think the problem is with the wireless - if something else nearby is using the same frequency, it will be tripped each time that thing is used. Our wireless bell used to go off if taxis were going past
It can also happen if a neighbour within 100 yards or so has a similar bell system. Try changing the frequency of the bell system if possible.
Some systems change the tune simply by removing the batteries and replacing them.
Did you buy it off Del Boy?
If you got it from B&Q you don't need to explain all the problems. Take it back and tell them you find it does not work in your house.
What make and model is it?

Thank you all for your help....I still cannot believe this. We tried the doorbell all over the house and they still barked when we went in the kitchen, but interestingly, only after a long absence, like in the morning, or after being out. We've ended up bodging up the old wireless bell, which is a copout I know, but it was giving us a heart attack every time it happened!
Thing is we are both a bit nostalgic for the times we got barked at....I asked her yesterday why she'd had the dogs put down!!!!
