I am looking for the marriage of Thomas Leavesley (1833) to an Emma (1837) Both were born in Wednesbury, Staffordshire and their first child was born in 1862 and they are already marriedon the 1861 census (living with his parents, Joseph and Mary Leavesley) Can anyone find Thomas and Emma's marriage details (and so her maiden name) - and also any possible marriages for Joseph and Mary (he was born in Leicestershire and she was born in Madeley, Shrops)

The surname is wrongly transcribed as LEAVESBY, LEAVSLEY, LEARESLY and many others ............. HELP!!!

ALSO - I am told these Leavesley's are connected to the business JTL, The Leavesley Group: http://www.leavesley.com/ Does anyone know anything of this? Long shot, I know. TIA

Thanks so much Craft Can see why I missed the Thimas one but how did you find the 1832 marriage?
Thomas Leavesley was baptised 5 May 1833 at St Mary's Darlaston, Near Wolerhampton Shropshire
The first marriage was on familysearch.org
Mary Bradley was the widow of John Bradley (died 1831), her daughter Mary born 1826 was brought up with Thomas as Joseph's step-daughter. she also had a son John in 1829 with he first husband John Bradley.
I think John Bradley married mary fellows at St peters Wolerhampton in 1824 but not 100% on that yet
regarding your company search, there is an interesting will of a James Leavesley (Shoe Manufacturer) of Brackendale , Stoneygate, Leicestershire who died 12 Oct 1918, probate was granted 5 feb 1919 to Albert Henry Leavesley, boot and shoe manufacturer, Jonathan North company director and Harry Wormleighton, hosiery manufactuer, effects: £23,845.9s.10d.

That's a hell of an estate. as the company you are looking at was established in 1919 I did wonder if there was a connection
I've conerted that money into modern value and it was the equialent of £500,000.

I cannot thank you enough for all your answers Craft and Dotty - really, really helpful. Lots of notes to add to my tree!!!! Thank you!!
Hi Echokilo, I've found your post whilst researching my family history.
Thomas Leavesley is my great great great grandfather, he had a son called William who married a lady Sarah, they had a son called William who is my great-grandfather born in 1897. I have his war medals and medical records from both wars. William had several children, one being Sydney who is my grandfather. All born in Wednesbury as was my farther.
As far as I know there is no connection to the Leavesley group, the family has been involved in foundries for the last 4 generations including myself.
Are you of any relation? It would be great to hear if you have some Leavesley ancestry history!
Thanks
Adam Leavesley
