I am trying to find the name of a piece of classical music. I believe it is a waltz and the only lead I can give is that the first few notes are very similar to the start of the theme of Fawlty Towers.

It goes da da da da da da da da daaaaaaaa da da daa da da daa

If you can work this out from the clues above I would be very grateful indeed.

Thank you

i know pieces like it, not quite the same.
well done Mick.
Its a stinker. Minuets were usually written in 3/4 time as were waltzes. The Fawlty Towers music is probably not a copy of an existing piece from the classical repertoire but it sounds as if a phrase might have been captured and repeated with variation. Can you recall how long your music lasted and give an idea whether it is full orchestra or a smaller ensemble?
While I was thinking, looks like you nailed it Mick.
That's it, Mick.
it is the piece, so thank heavens, let's hope the poster is appreciative.
well done Mick - has the shades of being Fawltyesque too..though the composer of that claimed originality.....hmmph, I wonder?
if you were to listen to the two pieces back to back they are identical.
Question Author
Splendid! Thanks very much Mick, I am very grateful for this. What did we do before the internet?
Question Author
