Can anyone help me identify a bird that banged into my window yesterday, was a bit dazed but recovered and flew off safely?
It was somewhat bigger than a robin, mostly white, had tan wings and a short tail with black stripes across.
I'm more used to seeing starlings and gulls.
Thanks

Intriguing..what kind of beak and legs did it have?
Question Author
Hi, it had a short beak and legs. What struck me was how 'white' and compact it was. I have tried the RSPB website and come up with a blank.
how about a pied-wagtail.

or a blackcap (females are slightly different)

That's not a blackcap, that's more like a coal tit or marsh tit.

No, it doesn't seem to be any of these. I have a (not great) picture showing it from the top, but I don't know how to upload it!

but thats a long shot depends how close to the countryside you are.

I 'm going to mail the photo to one of the younguns and ask them to crop it for me. Then I'll post again.
