Just finished cutting privet...COVERED in bites...have insect repellent slathered over me..but does not seem to do much good..any tips how to keep the blighters at bay ?

If they are anything like the midges where I live and more so if they are Scottish ones then I recommend nothing less than a full Nuclear/Biological/ Chemical Protection suit before starting your hedge cutting...........right little bu99ers they are :-((

Prevention is better than cure.

try old fashioned Oil of Citronella from the pharmacy the little blighters dont like the smell, dab behind ears , around neck, wrists and ankles.
