First off, there is a battle between android and iOS, and basically, I don't know which to choose, can you explain or suggest one?

It's personal opinion, they will both do the job and anybody who says one is better than the other or you should get one over the other is just telling you their personal preference.

go to a phone shop, or borrow some friends phones, have a play about with them and make your own mind up.

For what it's worth, I prefer android out of those two, but that doesn't mean you will, or should.
