I've just finished tidying up etc the living room after the havoc of two G/children yesterday & behind a cushion I found a 'Dib-Dab' forgotten about I suppose.
I loved sherbet as a kid and dared myself to eat it. I tore the top off in anticipation dipped the lolly in the compacted sherbet powder and...
Imadiately was transported to the streets where I played, to my junior school, my teachers even. I went back to the park I played in, picnics with Tizer & sugar sandwiches.
I was sorry when I finished it. Certainly a 'Blast from the Past'

What takes you back?

Bluebells always take me to when i was a kid going bluebell picking at Earlswood Lakes just outside Birmingham where we lived with my parents we were only a couple of miles from home but it seemed miles away. Mom always took a picnic and we sat in the woods surrounded by bluebells. We would come home on the bus laden with bluebells which were then put in vases all...

When I was 9-10 we used to go to the corner shop and buy a bag of kayli - don't know how you spell it. You stuck your finger in and then licked it, and your finger tuned yellow. I saw it many years later in a place like Beamish and it took me right back.

Also Dandelion and Burdock, delivered each week and you saved the bottle to get money back.
Ok he smell of rubber pe daps, wood varnish, metal paint, cabbage and the smell of orange at christmas. Also the smell of the leather mane of my rocking horse. I just have to go into the attic at my granddads and it takes me back to nights when we stayed over :)
Music for me, same as many posters.

As for sweets though... I had a packet of Cola Chewits the other day, I didn't know they still did them took me back years............
I remember being a "Saturday Girl" in Woolworths in Llandudno, and they used to pay our bus/train fare and we'd hitchhike there and save the money. There was a record player on the jewellery counter for some unknown reason and we used to play this record on it over and over.

Looking back at old photos, and listening to music.

Most of all when you was a child you had no worries!

PS. The crush I had on my maths teacher.

Mom always took a picnic and we sat in the woods surrounded by bluebells. We would come home on the bus laden with bluebells which were then put in vases all round the house. Living in an industrial area this little bit of countryside was heaven. I now live in the country near the sea and cant believe how people born here take it for granted, I,ve been here 50yrs and still marvel at the lovely senery. Not allowed to pick the bluebells though.
The smell of Privet flowers for me. When I was a little girl we used to go to our local Lido every summer. It always seemed huge to me and the whole place was surrounded by Privet hedging, the smell was amazing. Every time I walk past a Privet hedge I'm transported back to that Lido :o)
The smell of vosene shampoo takes me back to when I was about 5 or 6 standing on a stool by the washbasin "helping" my Auntie Liz or my cousin wash their hair. I was probably a bigger hindrance than anything but they put up with my assistance.
I miss spangles, and MB bars the penny finger lollies we used to buy at Macari's cafe, happy days
