Do those adverts that you see, in the Private Eye for eg, where people ask for money to be put into their bank accounts actually work? Does anyone know anyone who has ever put an ad like this in a mag/paper? Or donated to such an ad? I ask purely out of sheer wonder.

thanks - I did do a quick search for this subject, but only half-heartedly (needed sleep!)
Hello, WoWo here again...

As I mentioned in the linked thread, like you out of sheer curiosity I put an advert in there once asking for money. I honestly can't remember what the advert said but it wasn't a lie it was something about starting a buisness which I was actually doing at the time but I didn't really need finance.

I set up an account which I was going to use for something else later and then waited for the money to roll in. But like I said I didn't get a penny.
I am not sure which adverts you exactly mean, as I cannot recall reading Private Eye but there are greedy people who might believe scams, anything for a quick buck if they are promised a quick turnaround of money in return. I.e begging emails from Nigeria, asking you to donate some money so their money can be released. They want your credit card details and they promise to give you 100,000 in return. Some people will believe anything in return of some quick money.
