Can humans get bitten by cat fleas.
I inherited my dear departed Mother's cat a few weeks ago, and since then I have been getting some sort of insect bites on my legs.
These are not mosquito bites, but just as damned annoying, making you want to scratch untill you take the skin off !

Yes you can - you need to do the cat and spray the house.

My vet no longer recommends FL either, neither do I.
Most fleas on dogs are actually cat fleas and yes they definitely bite humans too!
Why don't the cat fleas stay on the cats and let the dogs have their own fleas?
it sounds as though the cat fleas have got into your carpet. you can get bites from cat fleas. and if you have a dog they will infest it. try a household flea killer on carpet. and cat and try not to scratch .
You don't put a household flea killer on your cat kendra. You buy proper flea treatment and I recommend Advocate for the cat and RIP for the house.
As I understand it they'll chomp on cat for preference, but failing a good cat meal around they'll take what they can get.
Animal fleas will have a go at anything warm blooded - if it's the wrong species they will take a few bites (presumably to compensate) so if you are getting a group of bites in one spot, it's most likely the cat.

I sometimes get a bad reaction to insect bites - it swells up and reddens a heck of a lot and is much worse if scratched. I cover the bite with a plaster to remind myself not to scratch, and prevent it rubbing against my clothes. I take allergy tablets or antihistamine to reduce the swelling, and often use lavender or tea tree oil on the bite too.

Definitely - go and buy some good flea treatment for the cat (we use Stronghold), then treat your whole house for fleas, especially where the cat sleeps, under the edge of the sofa in the carpet, etc.
I recently had a flea problem. Treated the cat and then bought some INDOREX off of Amazon as someone recommended here and it worked a treat. I paid £10 for a tin and it did the entire house!
That was most likely me,Greedyfly...I've recommended it here also...super stuff.
If it was Pasta then well done - pat on the back for you!!!

It worked so well I have bought a second tin to do the house next time/year - I would have forgotten by then what is was called! Best £10 spent all year I think.

Many thanks folks.
Have invested in RIP and separate cat flea drops. Hopefuly that will let me get a good nights sleep instead of scratching the top layer of skin off my legs at 2.30 in the morning !!
