Sorry had to stop typing as it was happening again, even my letters freeze and won;t type and the blue circle goes round and round. The laptop doesn't always close down properly, says its shutting down and takes longer than usual. Is it my BT Broadband, or have I got a little bug in my laptop? What shall I do? I'm no technical so please answer simply ! I have done the cookie thing as well, tools/clear history.
I guess you could SAVE anything important and then revert back to factory settings. Or maybe restore your system to an earlier time before the problem started.
Hi smurfchops, on the searchbox on this site type in Laptop Freezing there are quite a few suggestions there, that's what I usually do, hope this helps in the meantime.
Is it the whole computer that freezes or just certain applications ?
If certain ones that could pinpoint where the problem is.

Problem is it is difficult to see where the issue might be, could be software or hardware, one of the applications or even Windows itself.

The suggestion to restore the system to an earlier time where you didn't have an issue is a decent thing to try.

Does it ever come back if you leave it or do you inevitably need to recycle the power ?

Could be if you have tried eveything and it still does it, it may need a qualified technician to look at it.

Does this only happen with Firefox? Have you tried it with IE or better still Chrome?
How much memory do you have installed and is your version of Windows 7, 64 bit?
Do you have too many processes running at the same time?

I have done System Restore and it seems a lot better, still not perfect, we will see. Apparently BT have been having problems in my county although not my specific area, perhaps it is that. I will give it a little longer and maybe see a technician. Thanks for all your help everyone.
You should be using IE9 and it seems to me that you need to set it up.You should have it set to show all websites in compatatability mode . You can do this by pressing ALT and cloicking on the Tools menu in the top LH corner and scrolling down to Compatitabliity View settings and set it to view all websites in compatitability view. Try this and see if it fixes your peoblem.
