Not sure about the last bit, but sounds like Phileas Fogg and Passepartout in 'Around the World in 80 Days' by Jules Verne.

im still looking i thought fogg lived in 1870's

Sorry, getting my centuries mixed up!!
It sounds to me like A Sentimental Journey through France and Italy by Laurence Sterne. It's certainly about a gentleman, Mr Yorick, and his manservant and there are plenty of women - indeed the very last word of the book is a particular part of the female anatomy (or it would have been the last word if it had actually been printed).
