I generally eat really badly, one meal a day and occasionally one huge meal of something I really like (have done this for years and hasn't done me any harm). However, for the last week, I have been snacking in the morning, eating lunch and eating tea. I am not worried about gaining weight, just a bit concerned that I might have some sort of deficiency or something. Thanks for any help (did google it, but it got a bit technical quite quickly).

Well snacking in the morning, eating lunch and eating tea is far healthier than eating one meal a day.

You wont necessarily be gaining weight - depends what you are eating and how much. I mean if its doughnuts for breakfast, lunch and tea, then you might put on weight. Just make sure its all healthy.

Eating one meal a day, might make you put on weight, something to do with starving your body and building up fat cells - I watched something on the telly about it. It is definately healthier for you to eat at least three times a day.

If you feel generally healthy and no other symptoms then I would not worry, if concerned at all get GP to check Thyroid, just maybe your own bodies way of telling you to eat more regularly.

That's all, I have eaten badly since leaving home at 18. Never eat breakfast (the thought turns me), skip lunch and have tea about 8.30 but lately all I can do is think about food (even making myself bacon sandwiches for lunch twice this week). Obviously it might just be a blip but wanted to see if it could be anything I should talk to the quack about.

I think you should get your thyroid checked out sher, just to be on the safe side.

Bugger off RR (I actually lost weight on the things as I was so huge I couldn't eat - himself made me eat some steak once a week to keep me going!).
If you are eating more AND putting on weight then I can see no obvious deficiency that would be to blame.

However if you are eating more, but LOSING weight, then i agree with the posters who suggest a thyroid check and a diabetes check.

Monitor the situation for the next 6 months or so.
