I have matching under counter larder fridge and freezer, but a fridge freezer would be more practical for me. I don't really want to buy a fridge freezer as these are not very old so I thought stacking them might be the answer. I know you can do it with tumble dryers and washing machines but never seen anything to put a fridge and freezer together. Does anyone know if it's possible.

I can't see a problem. Suggest you google the manufacterer then go on their site and email their helpline.
If one is under the worktop, is there any reason why you cannot stand the other on the worktop over the other. I have done this with my tumble dryer & washing machine in our porch. It doesn't look out of place and there is no movement when either is operarting. Just a thought as it depends on your kitchen arrangement.
