I guess it depends on what triggers it.

I don't have any symptoms other than a tight chest and difficulty in breathing.
My little boy, however, always starts off with a bit of a cold/high temperature which triggers his asthma, he then ends up in hospital on a drip, needing oxygen and steroids. quite common really, but difficult to experience.
Mike...is your cat asthmatic? Wolf was asking this very same question...
Aah! and the penny has dropped now that I've scrolled down a little :p
It is too late at night for me to answer your question properly mike.

Normally when Frankie is coughing he is otherwise very well and healthy - it is unusual for it to cause him to feel off colour. I was just looking for some friendly guidance.

Try breathing in and out thro a straw for a day and you may get some idea how debilitating asthma is
