\\\\when they are with someone they dont love, someone they have no passion with or someone they dont even feel attracted to\\\

Happens all the time Purple.....more than you think and it depends upon what you mean by the word "love." This word has been banded about on AB for as long as i can remember and despite many requests, nobody seems to be in agreement as to what it means. If your not singing from the same hymn sheet, then it is difficult to debate the issue.

It depends on what you want out of life and what the alternative may be.
although i am very much in love with my hubby, i realise there are many more 'pay offs' than lust and love, esp in later life!

companionship, financial security and autonomy/freedom can all be as important to many people!

wouldn't work for me ...
Better the devil you know !
Contentment comes from within.
Variety is the spice of life.
sounds like a long marriage scenario, can't/won't leave each other, kids have grown up, no passion left, but clean clothes , food on the table,
what more could I want. lol - oh yeah content!
grs....LOL.....a well known scenario.

The "old lady" is happy.... grandchildren, she feels that she has no female competition, let's her self "go" and that completes the scenario.

Bit late in life to "move on" so as Purple puts it "be Content".
Sorry all, sometimes I do feel a bit tentative about posting what I really think so I beat around the bush a bit......I will try to be more forthright :-)
I find this issue so very very interesting................... do all married men lie and are all women who meet a married man and become involved stupid.............

Surely there are enough second wives around to show that men do leave their wives for another ( assuming they arent widows etc etc
0 .....??

is every one saying that a man who hasnt left will not leave.................???

surely we need a man who is in this position to answer honestly ( LOL !!! according to everyone on this site thats not a possibiity)???

Human vagaries should surely mean there are shades of grey in this matter................??
Surely there are enough second husbands to show that women do leave their husbands.

Why does it have to be for someone else though?
i was a bit perplexed here for a while but now I have realised what you are saying.
You are 'seeing' a man who is married to someone else, he tells you he does not love her but is just staying because he is 'content' to do so.
B8llocks ! the oldest story in the book and still women fall for it . Grow up !you are his 'bit on the side' and that is the standard excuse as to why he does not leave his wife for you.
Well that went straight over my head Eddie....

If that's the case at least he's being honest with her.

It's not as simple as just walking out. Content could mean 'I can't be bothered with the hassle'. So much depends on finances, sad but true.
