Do you mean just the bit protruding above the roof or the chimney breasts internally as well?
you need to speak to the builder...where is he when we need him ???
Question Author
just the bit outside the building, don,t use my loft so bit inside doesn,t matter
I would estimate as follows
Day to put scaffold up. Day and half to take chimney down and repair roof. Day to take scaffold down approx £600. Hire of scaffold £300. Materials £150. Roughly a grand. Could I be mosey and ask why your having it done?

reason we,re thinking of chimney removal zacs-master is,after storm damage we got it fixed through insurance but it still isn,t watertight. the roofer,s been back four times and we,re peed off. by the way roofer didn,t mention chimney removal, so this is my bright idea!
Ah, fair enough.
Sorry Murray ............ I was reading the paper :o)

Beth. First up ............ I assume the stack is on the gable end....... NOT between the two houses, 'cos half of it will be next door's :o(

Probably do-able with a decent scaffold tower (DIY job then).
I know one dopey "builder" who just threw the bricks down the flue! Let's not do that though :o)

Simple DIY job if you're handy. If you do get someone in, Zacs isn't far out in my opinion. Could even be a couple of hundred less if the access is easy. (i.e. no single story conservatories etc below the stack)

thanks for all comments.roofer coming back monday, so fingers crossed he traces leak! liked the builder,s tale about the dopey builder,! first time i,ve laughed about my situation for ages !! ta once again
Hi buddy.. Don't think scaffolding are very expensive. Its getting cheaper price level day by day. So pls don't go with wood type of scaffold its very dangerous. Pls choose a best steel scaffolding and find better scaffold provider around you. Thank you
