Once a carton is opened how long can you realistically keep it? I used some when doing a chilli, but still have some left and hate throwing things away

mmm, personally I'd chuck it after 2 days depending on the date
Taste it. If it's sour... No, wait, that can't be rght
when it goes off it really stinks. what does the date say?
I would agree with an earlier answer of days. Providing it is in the fridge you should be fine, longer than 2 days things start to get risky
As the cream is already soured it will not go sour!! I have used soured cream 7 days after opening. You will be able to tell when it is going mouldy as it smells really nasty. Fresh cream will keep for longer than two days!.

I have no sense of smell so cant tell lol
Sour cream is usually fine right up until the use by date even if its been open. I sometimes keep it for ten days or so!
