Whilst tracing my family tree I came across the occupation 'stopper ringing', something to do with a brewery. Does anyone know what this entails ? Thankyou

Would he be in any of the censuses............thegenealogist gives an explanation of the occupations.

AS far as i can find out its to do with the testing of the beer in the brewing process but must be quite antiquated as i cannot find a current reference
