does anyone know of any good waterproof hiking shoe/boot liners that would stop your socks getting wet when walking all day in the rain? shoes were waterproofed but the water got in through the air vent holes.

I'd recommend a pair of Brasher boots. Not cheap, but they're brilliant for walking or trekking.
always buy walking boots that have the tongue part attached to the boot, it does stop the water getting through the eyelets. Unless of course yours are..
my suggestion is simply and cheaply any brand of carrier bag / freezer bag. i have been walking for years and although i have spent significant amounts of money on supposedly waterproof boots i would always have some leakage in some form. always have a couple of carrier bags in my rucksack so if it starts raining i place them over my socks and tie them tightly to stop slippage. works a treat.
As of my last update in September 2021, it's challenging to provide specific brand recommendations for waterproof hiking shoe/boot liners, as new products and technologies may have emerged since then. However, when looking for the best waterproof hiking shoe/boot liners, consider the following factors:

Material: Look for liners made from waterproof and breathable materials, such as Gore-Tex or eVent, to keep your feet dry and comfortable.

Fit: Ensure the liners fit well inside your hiking shoes or boots without causing discomfort or restricting movement.

Durability: Choose liners with robust construction to withstand the rigors of hiking and rough terrain.

Insulation: Depending on the climate and conditions you'll be hiking in, consider whether you need insulated liners to keep your feet warm.

Moisture-wicking: Liners with moisture-wicking properties help manage sweat and prevent your feet from becoming clammy.

User Reviews: Check online reviews and ratings to get insights from other hikers who have used the specific liners you are considering.

Brand Reputation: Consider reputable outdoor brands known for producing high-quality hiking gear.
