I fully expect to get pelted with rotten tomatoes for this, but this Jubilee vconcert is packed with artists well past their sell-by date who can no longer cut it live: Elton John, Cliff Richard, Tom Jones, Stevie Wonder, Shirley Bassey...even Rolf Harris. What do you REALLY think?

They all struggled tonight, twas a good line up but let down by the singers and presenters.

Fireworks weren't bad though

My thoughts:
I noticed a lot of changed voices (presumably) due to age, particularly Cliff Richard, Paul McCartney and Elton John and was a bit shocked. I thought Lenny Henry was unnecessarily rude to Rolf Harris. Tom Jones was brilliant, as was Shirley Bassey and Grace Jones. I thought Annie Lennox overdid it a bit with the whole slowed down angel stuff and the virtual destruction of mic/stand - but that thing with Madness and the projections was mind blowing.
The one thing that I thought all the way throught was this: what was *she* making of it all.

Why did Shirley Bassey only sing one song and then get cut short by Kylie singing a terrible medley of her songs?

Out of all the acts I think Tom Jones was the best.

Elton sounded like he had a pair of socks in his mouth, Macca struggled to hit the notes, it's ok saying they are legends and get the crowd going but there comes a time when enough is enough and tonight proved it.

If I'm honest, I thought Cliff has lost it - maybe it was a bad night or he was overcome by emotion or his 'Peter Pan' exterior belies a more worn out interior.
Very sad - bless him.

The presenters/comedians were crap, it never works on a live concert trying to be funny.

Cliff Richard was out of tune and flat. What the hell was Grace Jones doing there and Will I am not, was crap.

Madness should have been on the stage not on the roof!

I left Cliff out because I didn't see his performance but from what I've read he was crap as well.

Macca closing the gig was a big mistake, Dave Gilmour should've got the call

I was watching the whole thing with an eye for balance between what the populus would enjoy (younger and older) and what the Queen would enjoy.
I'm still left wondering if Her Maj actually enjoyed any of it or if she just found the whole thing too intense and 'modern'.
It looked to me as if she would rather have been sitting quietly with her memories with the French doors open listening to the owls and the crackling of an open fire in Balmoral.

I was hoping when Macca finished that he'd do "Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl".

She did seem to spend the whole evening with a face like a smacked arse, and every time the camera was on her she didn't look too interested.

Prince Phillip had the right idea, I missed my mums 60th by getting bladdered the day before

and then there were the comedians, oh heavens how unfunny could they be. Lenny Henry a one time favourite should retire, as to Rob Brydon, not good at any point, those few minutes i switched over.

The theory was that the performers covered music from all the 60 years of the reign, that must we why they dug out the oldies. I don't blame ER for looking less than keen at times - she's had a big weekend, her husband's in hospital, she had her earplugs in....

I reckon she must have been a bit cold as well, going on the fact she didn't get there till 9pm, even with a cloak around her shoulders.

I full agree. I think Paul McCartney also comes into this category. Cliff Richards kept changing key as he couldn't reach the right notes and he sounded out of breath!!
