Are they now out-dated and members should be allowed to put forward suggestions for their improvement.

The following link seems to be the most up-to-date position and is possibly way past its 'sell by date'.

^^^^ Easiest way to return from being 'User Inactive'.

Various togetherness build up between ABers and when one suddenly stops debating, I think that we should know the reason why and if it is because they have been banned, then we should be made aware of the reason why, this also sends the message out to others.
A more simple approach would be for contributors to stay within the site guidelines/rules.

A supremely difficult notion to assimilate, I know....
Ed will NEVER justify his actions.and nor should he..rules is rules ! it seems the same old same old keep reappearing with new user names... ed may need to scrutinise the origins of new member requests ?
> I wish to see AB as a democratic site.

Your problem is that it's not a democracy, it's a benevolent dictatorship. If you want a democracy, try Twitter ... that's a lot closer.

AB is run much like your local pub ... with a landlord whose say is final. Or like your local paper ... with an editor whose say is final. It is not a democracy, it's a commercial venture.

You can choose to spend time here or not, but if you really want a democracy and it's never going to be a democracy then perhaps your time would be better spent elsewhere.

I have already explained why debates about deletions and suspensions are not tolerated.

If you don't wish to accept the reasons I gave, then there is nothing more to be said, but history shows that the policy of not discussing such matters is longstanding, for good reasons, and shows no sign of being changed anytime soon.

It is with apologies that I regret having posted as I have in CB. I should have realised that the category is in the hands of a 'clique' which has been confirmed somewhat by a respected AB Medical Member to whom I may need to seek advice about my distress of being attacked for having been a previous member of AB.

Never have I denied that I was originally vivandorron, but some ABers appear to hold such knowledge as a 'Sword of Damocles' over me. For anyone who wishes to know further about me, please read the following link;-

https://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/AB-Editors-Blog/Question1210870-1.html

Admittedly I am now chancing my arm, in perhaps a mistaken believe, that our present lady Ed is aware of my reincarnation and accepts that I do have some useful purpose in AB and can remain a member, providing I concentrate on sections other than CB.

Oh, I apologise most sincerely, I was unaware that you had been made Editor in Chief.

@jth......I would have thought that as a Moderator you would know that anyone who has been banned has lost from AB all that they have contributed. How come that you were able to draw attention to my postings as vivandorron if I were 'banned'.

Stop it jth because you are now in breach of AB rules. Have a think about that one.

Hans.
Probably why inactive is a better option your AB life is not erased, and if you have made valuable contribution they will remain available.
To answer the original question, members are welcome to make suggestions regarding the website and its rules.

Regarding relaxing the rules around discussing removed posts and banned members, that isn't something that will be changing - for reasons many on this thread have already explained. Members are banned and posts are removed because they break Site Rules, and that's all that needs to be said. The editorial team has neither the time nor the inclination to further explain to members why someone else was banned or why a question or answer was removed.

I haven't - but the person who has agrees with the points I made - I am sure you can accept the points made from her, if not from me.
