11a lynxean?
9d OLBERS PARADOX (you can Google for an explanation)
11a Lyncean
I've found both lynxean and lyncean, Lie-in King.
Hi b'jay, I checked no further than Chambers earlier, but have just checked OED (Online) which also lists 'lyncean' as a headword, with 'lynxean' as a 3rd level variant.

I'd be inclined to think the setter was thinking of 'lyncean', but...?
Thanks Lie-in King! I was not familiar with either term (could only think of lynx-eyed, which obviously didn't fit) so didn't know which one to plump for really!
