I used to have a single that I'm sure was called The Power Of Love or something very similar that came out in the late 70s/early 80s. I don't think it charted (certainly not Top 40) and was *not* by Huey Lewis And The News, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Jennifer Rush, Celine Dion etc, etc.

What I can remember is that it fell somewhere between pub rock, New Wave and powerpop and contained lyrics which sounded like "heart's beating crazy like it's ready to bust", "I think I'd better shape up" (NOT Travolta/Newton-John) and "I can't get enough of that heartbreak stuff" and had a middle eight consisting of a guitar solo reminiscent of Stray Cat Strut.

I think they were a British band not unlike The Rumour/Any Trouble, but I've looked down those lines without success. I might have the title wrong, but it definitely scans. Any takers? Good karma awaits you...

Hi,

I know that Captain Sensible had an LP out in '83 called The Power of Love, with a song on that with the same name?

by the way, i love Any Trouble! :)
There was a track called Power of Love by The Early November on an album called Punk Goes 80s. It's on i tunes but it seems too slow.
There was one by Gary Wright on his Dreamweaver album which sounds more like it
Smokie also had a song called this
