Has anyone won any money from A Mortgage Company or Building Society, and not used one of these companies who help for part of what they get you.

I don't think 'won any money' is the term I would use, but I have received compensation from the company who sold us our endowment policy. We went to them directly, after being shocked to hear how much commission the 'endowment claims' companies wanted.

Question Author
Your correct. (won ) sorry Thanks I was discussed with what they charge
yes we did. We wrote to the bank and said that we wanted to claim and they sent us a very simple form to complete, also a note of what their policy was on response times and so on. We completed the form and returned it and they sent us a cheque. We had no documentary proof of misselling, it was just our word on what we had been told some 20 odd years ago. We had to sign a waiver saying that we had received a full and fair settlement and they sent us a note of how they had calculated the amount that we were owed which we agreed with. all very easy, no stress or hassle. the bank was lloyds

heree's the website we got the info and letter templates from. Its all free and very easy to http://www.which.net/endowmentaction/

Thanks Woofy; thats just what i needed Thanks again
you are welcome. These folk who imply that you need their expensive help to claim get right up my nose!

Hi Okeydokey, I battled with a particular endowment/mortgage provider who turned down my claim of mis-selling. I then complained to the Financial Ombusman who took on the case for me. A few months after that I was offered a more than satisfactory sum for my policy & compensation that took me to the point I would have been at had I taken out a repayment mortgage in the 1st place (my endowment was under performing by 45% of my mortgage).

I will point out that I did have a very strong case & paperwork to back up my claim, but the ombudsmum were excellent help.
