Nope, me neither.
what about formal or informal; detailed or brief; jargon-free and simple or technical and complex?

dealing with colleagues; customers; etc?
Gentle tone : persuading and supporting, assertive language: making a firm point which may meet disapproval. Language with idiom to make young people feel more included. Hope this helps

Ah I understand now, I actually answered it in another question about structure
The question seems rather vague, if not ambiguous.
Are you at Uni?
Have a look at BBC Bitesize and see if that starts you off with some of the concepts:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/...t_types/revise4.shtml
Formal/informal
Telling/selling
friendly/telling off
asking/instructing
annoyed/calm
optimistic/pessimistic
brief/detailed

I am sure you can find a few more and expand on them

makes me laugh when once of the questions is what is plain english and why should it be used in written communication, when most of their questions dont use plain english!
To decide upon a style it is important to work out whether the letter is to inform, persuade or entertain.

When writing to inform it is necessary to keep the language and style clear and to the point. This allows the reader to pick the information up quickly and without ambiguity.

When writing to persuade the style and language should be more inviting, encouraging the reader to see from the writer’s point of view.

If the writing is meant to entertain then it should be written in a language and style that is friendly and warm.
