Doing a quiz about British Royal family and have hit a brick wall with these:
1 Which King twice rode a winner?
2 Which King reigned 51 years and 96 days and never left the kingdom during the whole of that time?
3 Who was killed in battle on his birthday?
4 Who was known as Mr Johnstone?

Any pointers will be greatly received.

George 111 59 years and 96 days. Probably a typo.
4 George VI (For Security reasons)
4 George VI was known as Mr Johnson when he was in the navy on HMS Collingwood .His fellow officers gave him the nickname Mr. Johnson.
3. As far as I can recall, the three Kings of England who died in battle were Harold Godwinson, Richard I and Richard III. Harold's date of birth isn't known (though the date of his death is fairly famous!), and both Richards didn't die on their birthdays, so I'm guessing that there must be a twist to this...
3 Harold 11 apparently .
HAROLD II, King of the English (c. 1026-66)
Brother-in-law of Edward the Confessor, no relation of Harold I, known as Harold the Harefoot. After the battle of Hastings in 1066, King Harold's body was identified by a tattoo over his heart. It read: "Edith and England". He died on his birthday.
Harold's date of birth is not known more accurately than 1022: http://www.fold3.com/...432_harold_godwinson/
As Battle is the name given to the place where The battle of Hastings was fought I wonder if that may be an extra clue. I agree that Harold II's birth is dated c 1022.
Seems to be yet another example of a poorly researched quiz...
