Have been suffering with this well known problem since SP3 for Windows XP auto-installed on my system. I know it is said to be a SP2 problem, but strangely enough I seem only to have developed it since getting SP3. I have also read that installing SP3 should fix it - which in my case it clearly doesn't. I have tried the Microsoft patch, but I get the message that the version I have of that file is more recent than the one I'm trying to install. I have tried some other suggestions found on the net - but they have either not worked or not for long. I have tried to uninstall SP3 but for reasons I don't understand I get to a point where I get the message that certain files cannot be uninstalled because a program is using them - but nothing I can see is running. Any help or advice welcome.
