Is there such a thing as a hand held meter for checking how much moisture is in canvas tent fabric? We've just been away, and we're now trying to dry the trailer tent out (outside) to pack it all back away, but the canvas feels slightly cool, hard to tell if it's just cool or is it damp. All the moisture meters I seem to see online are for wood or DIY jobs, the only ones that are for textiles are for big textile manufacturers and cost about £1000. I was hoping to spend about twenty quid. Does such a device even exist? The fabric HAS to be dry when we re-pack it or it will go all mildewy and horrible!

I would just leave it hanging, or very loosely folded, somewhere dry for a week or two. generally sling the bigger ones over the central muddle in the garage, or the small ones over a washing line in the garage.
The thing about a meter is that moisture in seams would differ from moisture in the centre of a piece of cloth.
Can't you sling it over something in the garage, and borrow a dehumidifier.
