I stupidly ate some chewy sweets last week and since then I've had severe root pain in 3 or 4 different teeth on the left side. It comes in waves and is obviously worse when I eat or drink but even afterwards I get a wave of pain lasting about 30 minutes which gets so bad I can't move or speak. I have booked an appointment for Monday but does anyone have any idea what it could be as it's strange that it's not localised to 1 tooth.

J2PUR is the dental expert, but one can have referred dental pain from the affected tooth, toothed teeth as you have described and in my opinion that is the probable cause.

However, if you associate the pain with eating and swallowing and if there is an associated swelling either under you lower jaw or in front of your ear, then that may suggest a stone on your salivary glands. If you have no swelling, then disregard my last paragraph.
LOL. Sorry about the first paragraph...." Dental pain can be referred from the affected tooth to other teeth in the area giving the impression of multiple tooth involvement"
I agree with Sqad that the pain is almost certainly dental in origin, and that you have pulpitis (inflammation of the pulp chamber) in one of the teeth. Pulpitis has various stages, and in some of them, the pain is characteristically 'non-localised' to one tooth. Ironically, the fact that it is non-localised helps us make that diagnosis! Bottom line - needs dental intevention ASAP.
goodluck bookboo on monday i am terrified of dentist about 7 years ago i had a constant pain in two of my teeth.the dentist told me it was a trapped nerve and needed the dreaded drilling.i to this day sometimes get similar pain in one of those teeth nothing in comparison to how it was at the time.

Thanks very much guys. I'll mention Pulpitis to my dentist on Monday. I'm terrified of the dentist. I had all 4 wisdom teeth out in the hospital about 7 years ago and it's scarred my memory!! I had a root canal done since then and was given an injection which made me feel amazing but I was still awake, I'll never forget that... lol
