I'm about to look after a puppy part t ime for friend - he was here yesterday and peed indoors in the same spot twice - is there any product I can spray on spot to deter him ? I have thoroughly washed floor, using bleach spray and put a doormat down - any other suggestions would be gratefully received - thankyou

Lol, it doesn't work like that! Depending on how old the puppy is you need to ensure he gets taken out (and stayed with) every time he wakes up, eats, plays for a while and then again in between just to make sure.
I am a bit worried that you are being left in chaRge of a pup with seemingly so little knowledge. I don't intend to offend but I think that you are going on a steep learning curve.....poor pup.
I'd ask your friend how she's training him (she is, isn't she?) and try to follow exactly how she's doing it.
Wash the spot with white vinegar in warm water. It worked for me when I was training my JRT.

The lady at our pet shop told me to dissolve some bicarbonate of soda in warm water and wash the area with that, she said it works better than expensive sprays, and for me, it really did work!........hope this helps!......
Puppies are unlikely to keep going to the same spot as they are not scent marking like an older dog would do. They go when they need to wherever that may be although it could be a place they have done it before if they are trying to get out and its on the way to the door.
You could buy yourself puppy training mats and encourage the puppy to "go" there. There's often little signs in their body language that should alert you to the puppy needing to go outside giving you time to get him out to what my brother calls "the piddle patch"
As it seems your friends puppy is not house trained yet,you are going to be the one doing it.
Use hot water and soap powder as it has not amonia in it - bleach will encourage puppy to pee there again.

Looks like you are going to have to toilet train puppy but you will need to do it in conjuction with puppies owners so youare doing the same thing.
Puppies also need to know where they are allowed to go and how to get there. If he was not used to your house he probably didn't realise where the door was or how to 'ask' to go out.
