Pet care dilemma

We are in charge of our neighbor's dog for two weeks while she's out of the country.  Tonight we went to take care of the dog, and discovered the deadbolts are locked on both front and back doors, and we only have the regular key.  Can't get in touch with the neighbor, can't find a spare key under the rug or anything.

What should we do?

Hi Zgma,  I know the police would help out with this in the UK.  Would they do the same where you are?  If not an animal charity such as the RSPCA would intervene over here, and would help out.   You must do something quickly obviously, and I know you will.    Poor dog!xx
are you sure that the dog is in there and hasn't gone to a sitter?
Get the RSPCA & the Police to break in for you. There's no choice.

Zgma, If the police can't help in the US, I think you need to break a window and enter.  Inform any close neighbours first though in case you find yourself being arrested!

Hopefully, by the time you read this you will have sorted the problem.

Good Luck

Thanks Fakeplastic, woofgang, and Purplepixie.  We ended up calling a locksmith and getting in that way, kind of pretending it was our house at first.  The dog was just fine - she hadn't even made a mess on the floor or anything.

The really annoying thing is that my neighbor's dad showed up (we didn't have his number before) just after the locksmith came, so we could have saved our neighbor the money for the locksmith.  Then he almost locked the deadbolt again on the way out!  Good thing my husband caught him doing it, and stopped him.

My first job of this morning was to check this out, zgma.

Glad everything's OK.  Best wishes x

zgma, that's such good news
Glad you got in ok zgma and that everything was ok.
You should not let the dog alone alone. Ask your neighbor if you can break in. To know more, visit http://www.actoblog.com
