Lots of tiny weeny hooks!
...and loops to hook on to. weak individual bindings add up to great strength with area increase
The original idea was well before the technology to produce the product. A gentleman was walking his spaniel in the country and noticed that the dog had managed to get some burrs in his coat. When the gentleman started extracting the burrs, he noticed the hooked barbs on the burrs and the tangled hair of the dog that had made a loop. The hook on the burr had gotten caught in the loop of hair.

its made of nylon, you have the "loop" side and the "hook" side, hence it is also known as "Hook & Loop Fastener"

The hooks attach to the fluffy loop side creating a versatile fastener

there are many manufacturers of hook and loop and unfortunately everyone calls the product velcro, that is its generic name now, but due to the manufacturer of velcro the brand it causes alot of problems for the other manufacturers and velcro ltd are not a nice company and instead try there hardest to monopoloise the market

I am friends with someone at www.indigoshop.co.uk who sell a brand of Hook & Loop called Fastenerz, if you believe customers have the right to all brands try them out or if you think a company should try and destroy all there competitors then dont :-)
