Never heard that particular phrase. I've heard 'If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it'
I've heard the same one as you Count and in my case it's true. I wish the opposite of Dave's was true, I know a place they sell Aston Martins near here.
How often have you gone shopping for something that used to be commonly available, but which no-one seems to stock these days? Dunno where to buy it, but it's nothing to do with not being able to afford it.
I agree with the Count too.
I've searched high and low for kvass.
never heard that phrase but I think there is a certain amount of truth in it.
The Count's phrase is the one I've heard before ...

Anyhow, do you think The Queen knows where to buy lawnmower parts?
Well I know where to buy lots of things I can't afford so no, not really. I do agree with Counts though.
If you can afford it that's probably because you haven't bought it . . .
Naz, the Queen probably does, someone's got a Royal Warrant for 'em!
The queen would know how to fit those parts to her lawnmowers. She was a mechanic during the war.
True sandy, I'd forgotten that, I remember the photo now!
