Our cupboard handles are made from a gold coloured metal, I'm not sure what it is but I don't think it's brass. We have never really bothered about them but recently we painted the cupboards and now the handles look really grimy. What can be done to make them nice and shiny again as I'm sure they're supposed to be?

Wd40 and a cloth usually works a treat for cleaning metals, has done in our house :)
take them off the doors and scrub well with detergent and hot water dry well then polish and put back

Thanks. Think I'll try those suggestions in the order given.
If that doesn't work flobadob, new handles would be the next option and would make a change, its amazing how new handles brighten up units. I got mine at B&Q. Get nice large chunky ones rather than smaller ones, makes the units look more expensive.
If the cleaning doesn't work, try new handles, they freshen up the units no end. I got mine at B&Q, buy large chunky ones as they make the units look more expensive - and brushed chrome is more trendy than brass at the moment. Good luck!

Yes, thanks smurfy, I heard you the first time, lol. I think I'll clean them and then see. The thing about new handles would be that they would have to be the right size so that they would cover the holes left by the screws from the old handles. And there's 14 of them so it wouldn't be cheap.
