I use their auto-bronzant product, which is the lotion (there are also mousse and spray products). Speaking as someone who has always fudged up self-tanning in the past, applying it is fairly foolproof. Undiluted, the colour is very dark, so I'd recommend testing different dilutions on your thigh or somewhere else that won't be visible for a few days. Ignore the warning on the bottle - you CAN use any type of body lotion to dilute it with. Oh, and I find the best time to apply it is about an hour before bed, so you can let it absorb, then let it develop overnight. And don't rub or blend it in - just cover the areas you want tanned - it's meant to look streaky on application.
I had it done professionally for my wedding day - maybe I was lucky with the girl who did it but it was absolutley fab and looked very natural. They spray it on with a sort of airbrush. I'd highly recommend spending the extra for a special occasion.
Have only used it once; had it applied at a salon the day before a holiday, a couple of years ago. Very pleased with results, though was a little on the dark side for my personal preference, but I'm sure this could have been toned down had I asked. However, tan only lasted a day anyway; next day I was on my hol in the pool and jacuzzi and it slowly dissolved away!! (I've since learnt that any fake tan pretty much disappears in chlorinated or salt water.) If you like a more subtle colour, Loreal Sublime is good and one of the few that hardly smells.
