How do people on benefit survive?

I posted last week about my bills.
Gas and Electric £400+
Car Tax £160
TV Licence £145.50
Today the water bill arrived. £412.24
Still to come, Council Tax.
Am I missing something?

Sorry, TCL, didn’t mean to ignore you. I did not mean to imply the “carers” were not entitled to benefits under the current rules. It’s the current rules that are a bit strange. A couple near me made a living from “adopting” adults to care for (receiving Carer’s Allowance for their altruism).. Having run out of suitable adults to care for, they now care for each other (as my wife and I would if necessary). Difference is, they each receive Carer’s Allowance. The question that does not seem to be addressed is how someone who needs caring for themselves (so much so that funds are needed to enable it) is capable of caring for somebody else.
As far as reporting somebody for perhaps not being quite as disabled as they make out, I tried it once. A chap living near me was registered disabled, drew disability benefit, but managed to do a “bit on the side” roofing and house painting. I phoned the authorities and was told, in no uncertain terms, to mind my own business, “You may have it wrong. You don’t know all the facts” I was told. Perfectly true. But no investigation was forthcoming. So I do now mind my own business. But it doesn’t mean I like it.
Today I learn that those who are about to receive a 5.2% rise in their income are to be shielded from the rise in postal charges which those working will suffer and will be offered cheap stamps!
