why can't you mow lawns when they're wet?

A further problem is found with the efficiency of the blades. A mower blade will slice through dry grass cleanly, but it tends to pull and tear wet grass, which can leave bald patches and an uneven cut.

thankyou einstein, thankyou andy h, the other half has now mowed the lawn without being electrocuted and the lawn was pretty terrible anyway, nothing lost, but a couple more weeks free of 'tatty garden guilt' gained :-)
...and i guess if you were to run over the electric cable in the wet..... you know where i'm coming from here.....

yes the other half could have killed himself mowing the lawn but totally failed to do so, i'm now trying to get him to take up golf while all the thunderstorms are going on ;-)
