I am thinking of trying to quit the cigs and wondered about snuff, how does the nicotine hit compare to a cig?
What are the pros and cons in your eyes?
Lastly where can i buy it from and what is the best flavours and strength to get?

I've tried snus before, the Swedish snuff. I didn't like it at all and felt no effect of nicotine. I wouldn't compare it to smoking.
it just transfers the cancer risk from mouth to nose. I understand that the lung cancer risk is unchanged. Its also pretty disgusting as it makes your nose run and the mucus is brown as the snuff comes out. This is why snuff takers handkerchieves are bright colours and not white in order to conceal the staining.
How do i know this? I looked into it in the sixties as i thought it might be a quirky thing for a girl to do and I liked snuff boxes
What a pretty picture you paint of it Woofy! LOL
I know...that's why i never did it.
and now she just uses the snuff boxes to store her crack cocaine
well the mucus isn't brown but it'll play hell with your septum.
This takes me back to the early eighties when my fairly newly formed Company was asked if it could take on a contract to pack snuff. This was white menthol snuff and it was delivered to us in dustbins - and then had to be poly-bagged - put into tins and then cartons of 10 etc. A dreadful job but we needed the pennies haha !

Thanks for your answers but have still decided to give it a go.
Where can i purchase it from? Is there any chance that corner shops or tesco's sell it?

Anyone?
my local tesco's doesn't. My guess is that you will need a specialist tobacconist or possibly online because the habit is not popular(can you guess why?). Be prepared to lose any but your most strong stomached friends. Surely a nicorette product would be a better option?
Mr Google suggests buying online

seems we have no need for High St tobacconists any more :)
I, like many miners used it regularly not for the nicotine but because it made your nose run and kept it clear of coal dust, the most popular brand was McCrystals and a small tin costing 6d (2½p) would last me all week. I've not seen it on sale for years, incidentally the white menthol snuff mojay refers to was know in mining as "Puff Snuff". If you want a really dirty horrible tobacco related habit try chewing it, many miners especially face men did it, to keep their mouths moist and clear of dust. I only tried it once and it was awfull.
only before a kebab!
The link I have given you is to an online shop run by my friend's brother. It sells every type of snuff known to man
Snuff is made here in Kendal - Gawith & Hoggarth is the company.
Ive used it on a few occaisions, it is a bit grim to be honest, no nicotine hit and will not help you give up smoking. All good tobacconists will sell it.
Didnt know you could still get it. I remember using it in the 80's. its horrible stuff though. If you want to quit smoking, your better off with patches. Or even better, just stop! I know that may sound hard to do, but After 2 days you will no longer feel the craving. Smoking is a habit, and to break it you have to form a new habit of not smoking. Every day will reinforce that habit in your mind. Right from the outset, You must adopt the attitude that other smokers wont bother you though. Believe me, with that attitude, every day will get easier and easier and before long you wont even think of ciggies! That is how I stopped. 6 years now. Good luck mate!
