Accessing and exiting AB.

I have a desktop icon which I established as a short cut to my Profile page on AB and am able to access the page with a single click of my mouse. However it has never been my practice to 'Log Out' from the site but merely to disconnect by use of the X button on the top of any given page.

However, I have been led to understand that, unless one actually 'Logs Out' there is a danger that my computer could be subject to attack by unknown personnel. However even if I 'Log Out' I am still able to re-enter into the 'sign-in' page for AB; which is completed with my username and password in unidentifiable spots. A further single click and I arrive at my Profile page. ( All functions on my mouse are programmed for single clicks.)

Consequently, I ask all AB Techie members...." Am I doing wrong , and if so, what is the quickest, easiest and safest methods to enter and exit AB.?

ayg...I haven't a clue what your e/mail address is and no way should you publish it on AB. It is possible that you have an email address which is a hit and miss one to spammers, such as shall we say, [email protected] Incidentally my surname is not Jones and, as much as I like you, I am not telling you what it is; although it is very likely, with a surname of Jones, there must be a Ron Jones somewhere and possible one on a BT connection: or a virgin.net etc.

Starbuckone, I am very limited in my knowledge of the technicalities of Computers and how everything works on the Internet. However I have learned a lot from asking questions in AB. So my suggestion is, "If you don't know the answer, ask on AB". That is what the site is all about. Furthermore as we are all anonymous to each other we should not have any fear of being looked upon as foolish. It is possible that some folk think I am a nutter, but that doesn't bother me if I get responses to my questions and learn from folks answers.

My sincere thanks to all who responded in this thread.

I am still not certain that I am doing anything which could harm my computer. However, in the light of what has been said by factor30 & boxtops, perhaps I should reconsider how I access and exit AB and adopt as a maxim "If in doubt, Log-out".

Thanks again......Ron.
