How many people dont watch the race because of the resulting injuries and sometimes deaths of the horses?

I don't want it stopped if it can be made safe enough that the death of a horse would be a rare occurrence instead of a regular feature of the race. If all starters managed to finish I could live with that. The RSPCA has also said they could live with that and believe society at large would do so as well.

To run and jump yes, but read what I said again please. "beyond their natural instincts" i.e. to run faster or jump higher in a forced situation.
