The Guardian puts forward the notion that Radio Two is becoming a home for Radio One's cast-offs, with the news that Dave Pearcce has joined the sation - although he has been on Six Music for a while.

Personally, i think R2 does have an excellent mix of programmes and broadcasters, but I do wonder why people like Steve Wright and Johnny Walker hang on to their positions when both are patently characatures of what they once were.

As far as Dave Pearce is concerned, his obsession with 'the weekend' and the notion that dance clubs were a reason for living have long since passed their sell-by date, and I always found anything he said to have been forgotton in the following five seconds.

Any thoughts?

Yes, why is Steve Wright's 2pm show on R2 called 'The Big Show'? he is no more important than any other DJ on the radio is he? Seems too full of his own self-importance. My favourites are Chris Evans on the breakfast show and Sounds of the Sixties early on Saturday morning.
Don't you dare say anything against Johnny Walker, Andy!!! ;o(

The worse thing for me is Chris Evans in the morning - I now can't listen to Radio 2 until 9.30am.

I agree with you about Steve wright.

Lottie, you and I are going to have to have a straightener about our differing views around the Walker / Madeley axis ... or should we just agree that we like different things - after all, this is not the News Section (wink wink!)
I wanna be in your gang, your gang........................... ;o)
I guess they get too old for Radio 1 and get shoved across to Radio 2.
I quite like Steve Wright. I had to do a lot of driving a couple of years ago and his programme entertained me. I can`t stand Nicky Campbell. He`s nearly as bad as Terry Wogan for waffling.
Don't even get me started on Richard Madeley - ggrrrr
I wish they would shoot Elaine Page/Barbara Windsor on a Sunday!!!
I don't dislike Terry Wogan but his Sunday programme is dire.
I don`t know why but I don`t like female DJs very much. Ann Nightingale was the only one who was OK IMO
I don't mind Zoe Ball.
i wish radio 1 would cast off chris moyles to radio 2
Every change to Radio2 seems to be a change for the worse. Weekday mornings are awful, with the execrable screeching of Vanessa Feltz followed by the irritatingly juvenile Chris Evans. Saturday afternoons are rubbish, Richard Allinson's great show is just a faded memory as he's relegated to the graveyard shift. The R2 controller seems to think that we want to hear big names, even if they have no talent for presenting a radio show. It's Radio one and a half and it's rubbish!
