Last year my insurance was £249, I have made no claims etc, my renewal came through today and if I stay with the AA it is going up to £470 or I can switch to an alternative insurer, which they have provided where the sum will be £373. Why the big hike in price?

I have two cars insured with MoreThan and the premiums have gone down slightly for both cars in the last two renewals. I can't be the only one paying less, can I?

Tried Adrian Flux and they told me to go with the quote from Swinton and trying and failing to match it, they came pretty close though.
Swinton are pricing very agressively at the moment - bike & car now both with them.

One warning - they will bombard you with calls offering 'associated products' - which is OK until they continue to do so after you have asked them politely to stop doing it - then it starts to get fairly irritating.

Thanks for the warning sunny dave, I just won't answer the phone.
I always go to my insurers web site when the renewal comes in and and I do a new quote which is usual cheaper than the renewal price, in fact I have just done that today for my OH and not only did they agree to the new online price but also said if I put my self on as a named driver it would be cheaper still, at the end of the day to stay with the same insurance company I saved my OH £148 on the renewal quote.
My ins. was £208 in 2010 and my renewal last december toook it up to £290.
I went online, found a couple at £206 (the cheapest) went back to my insurer and, surprise surprise, they found a couple of ways of giving me discounts. I got it for the same price as the previous year.
I got a meerkat covered in spots, Pimples!
Funnily enough I was with the AA and they quote they gave me was was doubled. So I am now with Churchill's and a much better quote.
Try them.
Sorry Sipo, missed your earlier post. :0(
check out DirectLine too - they're not on comparison sites.
My meerkat broke its leg - limples.
