for the last couple of days all the clothes i have put through the wash have came out with white stains on them and i have had to put them through an rinse cycle. I use Fairy washing powder and Lenor softener. Any ideas why this could be happening ? TIA.

Sounds like powder isn't disolving properly, though whether the fault is with the powder or your machine I'm not sure. Have you changed from your usual powder?
Question Author
No used the same powder for years now. I am not sure if it the powder or the softener thats causing them. I guess i could put a wash on with no softener in it ! Doh ! Just thought about that ! Hahaha.
I'd say it was the powder, the Lenor would dilute instantly. Are you overloading the machine so the water can't dissolve the powder properly or have you turned the temperature of the wash down.
Question Author
i meant to say put a wash on without the softener and see if the stains still appear !
too much powder ?
Maybe to many clothes being put in, and the powder is trapped and cannot dissolve properly
Question Author
the last load i put in only consisted of 2 tops and a pair of trousers .
When this happened with my machine I tried all the things that you did without success. Eventually I called in the engineer who had to replace a part in the machine to cure it.
Good luck
....or you could try a liquid or gel detergent instead of powder.
Question Author
I would use a gel or liquidbut my partner is allergic to everything other than the stuff i use already. I am going to ring my local repair man and get him to have a look at it i think. Thanks for all your replies,
