To answer your actual question (this advice from Which?) - plasma is a better option for 3D and Panasonic is THE brand to go for. LG and Samsung only do a token number of plasmas - they concentrate on LCD/LED. There is a suggestion they may pull out of plasma production and leave it to Panasonic.

Panasonic are a very reputable Brand but Plasma TV's are more expensive to run than LCD ones.
How much is your budget for max spend ??
We bought a telly a few months ago (Samsung), whilst looking we called into our local Panasonic dealer, their TV's seemed superior to all the others we'd seen, the 3D was superb. We decided we ddn't want to spend tha kind of money. The drawback if I remember was the prohibitive cost of the 3D glasses £130 a pair, my brother bought a 3D TV, not Panasonic, he loves it and uses the 3D glasses you buy at the pictures.
Got a 50'' Panasonic Viera, full HD, superb piece of kit, can't fault it.
50" TVs? Are you going blind? 32" is supposed to be the maximum for an average sized living room in the UK. Vesuvius and Baldric, do you live in mansions?:-)
No, just got a large lounge, and a 40'' Sony in the bedroom
We have a 42inch in our living room, it's a biggish room but we only sit in half of it, we got rid of the 32inch as it was too small to watch comfortably. It's all a matter of choice and viewing experience.

I certainly dont live in a mansion, just a bungalow, but i`ve been told you take the size of screen add 50% and that is the ideal distance to watch from so with a 50" screen 75" is the ideal distance to watch from, and you dont need a mansion for that.
The ideal viewing distance for a 50'' 3D TV is around 9' min
Eek!!! You're going to watch a 50" screen from 6 feet? No way!!
12-15ft for 50''
10ft for 40''
all very comfortable and great for movies
;o)

Somebody told me yesterday they were phasing out plasmas. It could be a good time to get your hands on a bargain.
We have a 50" LG plasma in our average lounge in our bungalow. We love it.
