Why do fathers feel threatened by sons?

When I was 16 ish I could not disagree with my father, unless I wanted a battering. Anyone else had this experience.

@NOX....Wow sure yr not an Angel!!! Not only was i terrified of my father i was also sexually abused at my boarding school by my so called father figure!!

Nox and Mamya. I was having a go at no one. Please don't take what I said out of context. My father treated me very badly IMO. What I was trying to get across was I treated my sons with love, yet I still lost both of them.

As said before I am truly appalled at your loss, and I honestly have great admiration for your ability to even funciton, as that is one scenario where I really think I could not. It's everyone's worst nightmare, and I am really so sorry it happened to you.

my dad is like that...has to rule, his word is final, and any form of disagreement is greeted with outrage...absolutely believes he is the king the castle and is kids are beneath him...he seemed to believe the phrase 'im your father' was enough to cancel out all argument

he is still like that now.

he does also have a kind and generous side

I could never disagree with my father, I was scared stiff of him, especially when he came home from the pub.
