Can anyone help with the answers to the following cryptic clues?

1. Caused by pepper without the final cutting (7): -N-E---
2. Thrash Wales, turns to a bad end and leaves an old lump (6): -A-L--
3. Cops falsify texts before forgetting they had a meal (8): ---E---L

6th letter of 1 = 2nd letter of 3
Last letter of 2 = 6th letter of 3

I thought perhaps 'WALLOP' was the answer to 2 but can't understand how that relates to 'old lump' and also that 'INTERPOL' could be the answer to 3 but again I cannot relate that to the rest of the clue.

1 sneezing
3 interpol (ate)
i would say final cutting = edited. therefore ED
possibly sneezed ?
2. W(ales to a bad end) A LOP (and) L(eaves) ?

Agree with INTERPOL coming from Interpol(ate) but that would mean the answer to 1 now becomes -N-E-N- which rules out SNEEZED but I've now found that SNEE means to cut so SNEEING will be the answer: SNEEZING 'without the final' meaning without the Z which gives SNEEING.
