OK! Here we go! I'm a war baby. Mum made most of our clothes and food was rationed. We made our own amusement & played five stones, hop-scotch, knock-down ginger etc etc BUT! I can whole heartedly say not me or any of my pals got in a mood over anything or had attitude! I was fortunate to have a very calm & placid mother who never had any need to smack me but that's beside the point. Dad only had to look at me to stop me from doing anything that HE disapproved of (Like spinning the table spoons around!) As a teenager, I travelled on the tube from East London to Bank in London every day working in a Dickens style office for £3.12.6d. I had a boyfriend & we'd go dancing at the Hammersmith Palais of Ilford Palais. There was never any moaning - no mood swings or attitude. What iS CAUSING TODAYS TEENAGERS TO GET IN A MOOD?!?! (I hasten to add my 2 grown up kids never had attitude thankgoodness cos I just would not be able to handle it!!)

Hi potty64. Luckily enough, my g/children havent got an attitude, and if they have I never seem to see it! it was such fun as kids and i've got very happy memories of my 2 lovely ole pals having lots of fun with no drinking or getting kept in from being rebelious. Wished i could relive them happy days of my youth. x
Daren't give thoughts on teenagers and moods but your (and my) family have benefitted from, dare I say, good parenting.
Something that really rips my knitting is posts on Facebook informing the world at large how bored they are. Well, there's the hoover and when you're done there are dishes in the sink you wee soul.
BORED?! Put down your phone and walk about a bit you poor put upon victim.
it was probably that life of living without, that made most future parents spoil their kids the moment they could... i know my dad did...he was a war baby and when he became fairly well off he wanted to give us everything he could - we had tonnes of toys etc, best of everything

however he wasnt soft - he shouted, moaned and was strict and we were pretty scared to do anything wrong

but a lot of kids feel entitled now... they watch tv and see the rich and famous and feel they should be the same and if they are not, they feel angry and disillusioned and want to blame others
Today's children seem to think that if they want something, then they have the right to have it.
