My Fiancee and I are going on honeymoon to Thailand in July. We have heard that Mosquitos are quite common out there and can lead to some nasty diseases. Can anyone recommend any useful repellents and tips for not getting bitten.

We're obviously going to get a net and one of those plugs and some kind of spray but just wondered if there was anything else?

thanks

I've always used Deet (various repellents contain it, in different strengths).
Avon Skin so Soft oil comes in different fragrances now - I've heard it is only the original one which works, is that correct?
Wear long sleeves and trousers in the evening and cover feet. The little devils congregate under tables
Autan Soft & Scented. Johnson and Johnson product. Very very effective.
Eating marmite every day for two weeks before you go also helps. Apparently, mosquitos don't like the smell this leaves on your skin. I have heard brewer's yeast tablets can also help for the same reason.
Another vote for skin so soft, the one in the blue bottle.
tropical strength (50 % deet) Avon SSS oil spray % and taking B vitamins 2 weeks before journey. Chloroquine and sometimes proguanil are needed. Any good pharmacy will have an up to date list of what you need (and vaccinations). If i remember correctly the chloroquine are to be taken weekly... 2 weeks before...during your holiday ...and most importantly 4 for 4 weeks on return.
duh!! for 4 weeks on your return xx
Well said boxtops I sold loads of skin so soft during my years as an avon rep for people going on hols.
Wishing you well on your marriage and future BobbyBobBob.
I eat marmite all the time and I still get bitten ! That mozzie pen that made a noise worked for me too but haven't been able to track one down for years. Hope you have a great honeymoon .
amazon have them but not pen shaped.

yeast tablets - i don't think they like the smell. they are tasteless and you can;t whiff it - i've also heard marmite lovers get bitten less (well...it is disgusting!) x
ive heard that tonic water helps as it contains quinine and mozzies dont like this not sure how true this is tho, i expect someone on here may know more than me.
