I understand why often within first few minutes of a new question we often all pile in with same answers. What I don't understand is why people add the same answer long after all done and dusted, and even acknowledged by asker. Perhaps someone out there knows?

While on the subject of this sort of thing, when I first joined Ab I posted an answer one Sunday and found that 2-3 other people had all pasted the same, correct answer at virtually the same time. Checked back later and found that this particular poster had posted the same answer about an hour later. The thing that really pissed me off was that the OP thanked the...

He's doing ok shaney, had his stitches out on Friday, his appetite is getting back to normal and all in all he seems to be recovering from his operation quite nicely.

As I said here-

I can't believe it is to get peoples stats up because they are largely meaningless. Mine show 256 questions! If i've asked 20 it is a lot, the balance being made up of posting links to various crosswords & starting threads on others. As for answers, any sort of reply, be it chat or acknowlegement is an 'answer'.
yellow?
sometimes when two different answers are given and only one is correct I will 'add my vote' as it were
If you're a banned user the easiest way to get your stats up so you don't look like a newbie is to go into Q&P and answer questions that have already been answered.
Slow typing, or reading.
I agree with jackthehat - 'banana'
The reason answers arrive an hour or so later could be because like my Laptop it runs very very slow. I know I know I need to buy a new laptop (am trying to win one. )

Poortony, an hour or two later could be explained by slow computer, but a day or even several days? I don't think so. Ummmm has offered a plausible reason for some of them. (They are always names I dont recognise)
I put that post up at 12.12am yet it didn't arrive until this morning at 9.35.
I really am having trouble with this laptop, I've been trying to get it up and going from 14.00 ~ it took two hours to get up and going. think I shall
go to the Library tomorrow and go on line there for a few hours

Good luck all
Some people do not read through all the answers that have been given. They just see an opening question and answer it.

Never thought of that tenrec. I have been guilty of that myself but not some hours later. From poortonys post maybe some lags from sending to appearing may be much longer than I was thinking possible!
Since the massage and the new layout, you can't see straight away that there have been other answers - but I agree, what always seems odd to me is when there are answers, and the OP says thank you, I'm done now - and then you still get more answers!
LOL
Good question grasscarp. Agreed, it's always confused me, even posted an answer asking why on a few occcasions! Have to admit I'd not considered some of the reasons given, explains why my questioning posts have gone unanswered too :)

Chelle sometimes I nearly posted a comment to ask if they had not seen question has already been answered. I started this in the hope of finding why folks do it. Pleased I am not alone in my bewilderment !
